Schools In Brief Lockdown During Police Manhunt

Suspect sought in attempted murder at Motel 6.

Police in two communities are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted murder at the Motel 6 in Tewksbury on Monday.

The incident took place just after noon and resulted in five Lowell schools going into a "soft lockdown" while police searched the area for the suspect, who'd fled the motel on foot, according to an article appearing on www.lowellsun.com.

Tewksbury Police are attempting to idetify the suspect, who has been described as being a man in his late 30s. He allegedly attempted to kill a woman by strangling her. The attack took place in a laundry area at the Motel 6, according to the article.

The suspect reportedly has some type of weapon. He was seen fleeing on foot in the direction of Lowell.

Deputy Police Chief John Voto told the Lowell Sun that the victim in the case did not sustain serious injuries.
