Shawsheen Street Opening In Tewksbury Pushed Back To Friday

The road, which has been closed for six weeks, was tentatively scheduled to reopen Tuesday evening.

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Sorry, Shawhseen Street drivers: you now have to wait until Friday for the road to reopen, according to Tewksbury Police. While the contractor doing flood-proofing work had tentatively planned to reopen the road on Tuesday evening, that much-anticipated reopening was pushed back to Friday. After the road reopens Friday evening, the contractor will still have some finishing work to do, Tewksbury Police said.

Shawsheen Street between Main Street and Diane Drive has been closed since July 9 as crews conducted flood-proofing work. The project is now past the "six" in the 4-6 weeks officials had originally estimated the project would take when work began last month.

More information about the project is available online or by contacting Andrew Stack, Project Manager at (978) 640-4440 x256 or astack@tewksbury-ma.gov.
