What's Closed, Canceled And Delayed In Tewksbury On Tuesday

The town also said it will delay trash collection this week and will not be scheduling a special pickup for limbs and branches.

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Tewksbury Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday. A National Weather Service winter storm warning goes into effect at 11 pm Monday and will be in place until 8 pm on Tuesday. Forecasters are calling for blizzard-like conditions and 12-18 inches of snow in the Merrimack Valley.

The town's garbage and recycling contractor has delayed trash and RED recycling pickup until Thursday as a result of a storm expected to dump more than a foot of snow on the region. In a message posted on the town Website, Tewksbury officials said that schedule may change again as the storm develops and that further updates and information would be posted on the site.

A list of cancellations related to the storm seems to be growing by the hour. Patch will update this list as more information becomes available:

The storm comes on the heels of last week's storm, which downed limbed and left the vast majority of Tewksbury residents without power. In some cases, power was only turned back on late Sunday night. The town said it has been unable to clear sidewalks from last week's storm because of fallen limbs that still need to be removed.

The town posted a second notice on its Website Monday morning reminding residents that it is not the DPW's responsibility to pick up limbs and branches that fell on private property.

"Fallen trees and limbs that were on private property are NOT the Town’s responsibility and will not be picked up if dragged to the street. Residents who have debris from falling branches should keep them in their yard and dispose of them when the town has yard waste pick-up in the Spring," the notice said.

Branch pickup is scheduled for April 23 through May 25. Tewksbury is not planning a special, earlier pickup for limbs and branches.
