"We don't really place a ton of emphasis on our dual meet record, but to be able to come through this three-year period without having a track and post a 15-0 record over that time is a credit to all the kids and the parents and coaches in the program," said Head Coach John Byrnes. "We feel like we're stronger now than we were three years ago, and that's true on the boys' side as well."

Chelsee Porcaro, Jess Amadee and Kelly Quigley led the way for the Redmen with two victories each. Porcaro had wins in the shot put (34’10.5”) and the javelin (97’6”). Amadee took first in the high jump (4'11") and the 100 hurdles (17.5). Quigley earned firsts in the 400 hurdles (68.0) and the triple jump (31’6”).

"Kelly Quigley led a crew of triple jumpers to a great day too," said Byrnes. "We had 6 girls jump beyond 28 ft, and all of them are coming back next season, so that's beginning to look like an area of strength for us."

Other winners included Olivia Boudreau in the 2-mile, Devin Kelly in the pole vault, Rachel Eatherton in the mile, Ashley Colarusso in the 400, Bridget Blair in the 800, Molly Robertson in the 200 and Kelsie Bradley in the long jump.

"Kelsie Bradley was awesome in the long jump," said Byrnes. "Her 16'3" jump is our team's best mark in seven years, and she fouled a jump that was out even further than that."

"Several of our newcomers to the program had big days today as well. Ashley Colarusso, Melanie Somerville, Jess Ripley, Molly Robertson, and Chelsee Porcaro all scored in multiple events," said Byrnes.

Boys Track

Tewksbury 86, Lawrence 54

The Tewksbury High boys track team captured the MVC Division 2 title and wrapped up an unbeaten dual meet season with an 85-54 win over Lawrence.

"Our Kids have kind of been in a minor slump lately but man did they perform today, to beat a good Lawrence team!" said Coach Bill Meuse. "I'm so proud of our team and our coaches. Our seniors really deserve this because of their sticktoitiveness. They stuck it out last year and wanted to be better, they did a great job of getting more kids to come out and help this team. They deserve all this credit, they rallied the troops this year and carried the team to this championship."

As he has much of the year, Cory Cataldo led the way for the Redmen with wins in the long jump (20'10") and triple jump and a second place finish in the 200.

"Our long jump really took off today, we had three people in the 20's, which is something I have not seen in around here, That is a credit to both the kids and to Coach Fortunato," said Meuse. "Cory is such a versatile kid, so the last couple meets I have been moving him around to kind of showcase him in as many events as possible and he did not disappoint."

Meuse credited work by coach Carol Nevetta for preparing Cataldo for the running events. As a result, Cataldo has qualified for the State Championships in four different events.

Senior Roy Felix had a big meet. He won the 400 and placed second in the long jump with a personal best 20'5" to qualify for states.

"Roy has been so consistent all year, he is the type of kid that has not only improved as a athlete but more importantly he improved as a young man, and because of his maturity he had really grown into someone you can rely upon when his number is called," said Meuse. "I am so proud of Roy Felix."

Kevin Jones completed the sweep of the long jump by placing third with a leap of 20'5". He also took first in the high jump at 5'8" and placed second in the 110 hurdles.

"Jones is someone who we have to rest up and get ready for MVC's and the State Meet," said Meuse. "He has been banged up for most of the season, but has toughed it out for us in the dual meets. I am really happy how he has fought for this team, his practices just consist of ice and rest, so it will be nice for him to heal up and then have some practices next week."

Eddie Matovu continued his strong junior season by winning the 11 high hurdles and placing third in the high jump.

The Redmen throwers dominated the meet, sweeping both the shot put and the javelin. John Fiorello was at the front of the pack, winning both events.

Christian Taylor completed the sweep of the throwing events with a first place throw of 124'6" in the discus. That toss was good enough to qualify him for the states.

In the running events, senior Brian Amaral won the two mile, followed by Mike Famiglietti in second. Anthony Darrigo was second in the mile, while Joey Darrigo was third in that event.

Blake Hery was able to notch the first victory of his career, taking first in the 400 hurdles. John Saunders was second.

"I cant say enough of how hard Blake works," said Meuse. "This was a long time coming but he deserves this success and hopefully builds on it."
