Tewksbury High Turf Field Dedicated To Edward K. Dick

Turf field named in honor of Edward K. Dick.

TEWKSBURY, MA -- The Tewksbury Public Schools paid tribute to the legacy of longtime school committee member Edward K. Dick by dedicating the Tewksbury Memorial High School's new turf field in his name.

Dick, 73, passed away on Jan. 30, 2016. He dedicated his life to supporting the town, its schools and its sports teams.

According to his obituary, Dick prided himself on the time he served as a selectmen and most importantly as a four -term member on the Tewksbury School Committee -- a total if 12 years --where his fellow members nicknamed him, “The Dean of the Committee.”

Dick was a 35-year Board member and a cornerstone of the Redmen Football Club with the majority of those years as a Trustee and Treasurer.

He was all about the kids, their education and athletic experience in the Town.

He was a constant at the Tewksbury High School Varsity Football home game concession stand where all the kids new him as “Eddie Buck” or “Grampa Ed.” Ed and his pals would run the concession stand every home game.

He wouldn’t take your order, but would be quick to jab you with a joke and to count your money.

Dick's commitment to the town and the schools is something he has passed down to his children and grandchildren. His son Brian recently completed a three-year term on the school committee. His grandchildren have been standouts on multiple Redmen teams.
