Tewksbury Joins Alex's Lemonade Stand In The Fight Against Childhood Cancer

Tewksbury joins with Discount Madness to raise funds through Alex's Lemonade Stand to fight childhood cancer.

TEWKSBURY, MA -- In its continuing efforts to raise funds and awareness for the fight against childhood cancer, Discount Madness will host an Alex's Lemonade Stand to benefit childhood cancer at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 15 at its Tewksbury location at 1325 Main St., Tewksbury.

This year, manager Brad Cerullo hopes to involve the whole town of Tewksbury, encouraging other businesses to host their own stands at the same time.

For the past three years, Discount Madness has sold paper lemons and held lemonade stands outside its building to raise funds for the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), an organization that helps fund childhood cancer research. To date, Discount Madness has raised almost $8,800 for ALSF.

In the past, local businesses had reached out to help with the lemonade stand by donating items for raffles. This year, Cerullo wanted to expand and do something a little different. He is encouraging local businesses to become more involved, hold their own simultaneous lemonade stands and make this a Tewksbury-wide event.

Paper Lemons are now on sale at Discount Madness, Schlott Tire, MVP, Main Street Pizza, Kay's Hallmark, Perfecto's Cafe, Oakdale Liquors, Lisa's Family Pizzeria, Unique Nails, and Smooth Hair Studio.

Cerullo’s goal is to raise $25,000.

“My vision is to have all of Main Street littered with lemonade stands all the way from Wilmington to Lowell, all of us working together as a community to raise money and awareness in the fight against childhood cancer,” he ssaid.

Cerullo is looking for volunteers to help the various lemonade stands around town. For more information or to donate, visit the Tewksbury Lemon Aid for a Cure webpage or contact brad directly at LemonAidforaCure@gmail.com.

About Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer.

Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope.

To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $140 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 690 pediatric cancer research projects nationally.
