Tewksbury Library Wins $3,000 Grant For New Author Visit Series

TEWKSBURY, MA — The Tewksbury Public Library recently won a $3,000 grant from the Corning Foundation for its author visit series, the library said.

The Corning Author Series will host free virtual author visits every Wednesday night at 7 p.m., via Zoom.

The library expects to switch to in-person events in the fall.

The Corning Incorporated Foundation was established in 1952 to administer donations from Corning Incorporated. Corning Life Sciences is headquartered on North Street in Tewksbury.

"The library would like to thank Brent Lanterman, of Corning, and Nancy Baumoel, of the Friends of the Tewksbury Library, for facilitating this grant," the library said. "The Foundation focuses on quality-of-life issues in communities where Corning is an active corporate citizen, as well as issues that represent a pressing national or international crisis. Giving is targeted in four areas: Education, Human Services, Culture, and Volunteerism."

• Wednesday, June 23: Eric Jay Dolin, author of A Furious Sky: The Five-Hundred-Year History of America's Hurricanes
• Wednesday, June 30: Alex Myers, author of Revolutionary, a book about America’s first female soldier Deborah Sampson
• Wednesday, July 7: Lou Del Bianco, author of Out of Rushmore's Shadow: The Luigi Del Bianco Story – An Italian Immigrant's Unsung Role as Chief Carver
• Wednesday, July 14: Kim Windyka & Heather Kaplow, authors of 111 Places in Boston That You Must Not Miss
• Wednesday, July 21: Jeff Belanger, author of The Call of Kilimanjaro: Finding Hope Above the Clouds
• Wednesday, July 28: Thomas Farmen, author of Bessie’s Story: Watching the Lights Go Out
• Wednesday, August 4: Candace McDuffie, author of 50 Rappers Who Changed The World: A Celebration of Rap Legends
• Wednesday, August 11: Martin Gitlin, author of The Greatest Sitcoms of All Time
• Wednesday, August 18: Peter Zheutlin, author of Spin: A Novel Based on a (Mostly) True Story, a book about the first woman to bicycle around the world
• Wednesday, August 25: Stephen Puleo, author of Voyage of Mercy, a book about the Irish famine and the United States' first humanitarian project
• Wednesday, September 1: Kate Winkler Dawson, author of American Sherlock: Murder, Forensics, and the Birth of American CSI
