Tewksbury Native Comes Up Big In MLB Wild Card Game

Scott Oberg struck out all four batters he faces and got the win in Tuesday's win-or-go-home playoff game.

CHICAGO, IL -- Colorado Rockies relief pitcher and Tewksbury native Scott Oberg struck out all four batters he faced as his team beat the Chicago Cubs 2-1 a 13-inning, wild card game Tuesday night. Oberg, who came into the game with two outs in the 12th, picked up the win in his first career postseason appearance. The Rockies move on to play the Milwaukee Brewers in a best-of-five National League divisional series.

Oberg, 28, is in his fourth season with the Rockies. Colorado drafter Oberg in the 15th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball drafter. This year he was 8-1 with a 2.45 ERA in 56 relief appearances.

Oberg was a standout when he pitched for Tewksbury Memorial High School. He graduated from TMHS in 2008.
