Tewksbury Police Charge Lowell Man With Fentanyl Trafficking

The police arrested the man in Tewksbury Monday after searching his hotel room with a warrant.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Tewksbury police arrested a Lowell man and charged him with fentanyl trafficking Monday, the department said.

William Mercier, 51 of Lowell, was charged with trafficking over 10 grams of fentanyl and a subsequent offense of possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.

Police arrested Mercier following an investigation around 4 Highwood Drive, the police said. The department searched his hotel room with a warrant, they said.

Mercier was previously arrested in April around 1775 Andover Street. At that time, he was also charged with trafficking over 10 grams of fentanyl and a sequence offense of possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, as well as subsequent offenses of possession with the intent to distribute metronidazole, clonazepam and aprazolam and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

Mercier was due to be arraigned in Lowell District Court Tuesday.
