Tewksbury Police, SWAT Team Arrest 2, Charge 1 With Armed Robbery

Two Lowell residents were arrested in connection to a robbery of the Tewksbury Home Depot.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Tewksbury police arrested a Lowell woman Monday who they say committed an armed robbery at the Tewksbury Home Depot.

Katie Humphrey, 38, was charged with armed robbery and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.

William Baro, 46 of Lowell, was also arrested and charged with larceny under $1,200 and a probation warrant of two counts of unarmed robbery.

Tewksbury police arrested Baro and Humphrey with the assistance of Lowell and state police and the regional SWAT team, the police said.

Police went to Baro and Humphrey's home, a Lowell apartment, the police said. The two suspects refused to exit the apartment.

Baro said he had two hostages and warned police not to enter, according to the police narrative.

Following that statement, the SWAT team was called in, the police said. The SWAT team was able to arrest both suspects without incident.

Both were due to be arraigned at Lowell District Court Tuesday.

All people are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
