Tewksbury Power Outages: Storm Leaves Hundreds Without Power

More than 80,000 customers statewide are without power, and over 400 of those are in Tewksbury.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Hundreds of Tewskbury households are without power, Monday afternoon, as heavy winds hit the state. As of 4:46 p.m., 448 customers in town were without power, about three percent.

Statewide, over 85,000 customers were without power at one point Monday. Towns to the west of Boston are seeing some of the worst per-population outages; more than three-quarters of Millis is in the dark.

The strongest recorded wind gust was at the Blue Hills Observatory in Milton, where an unofficial reading hit 87 miles per hour.

Gov. Charlie Baker said health care at the state's hospitals shouldn't be interrupted in the event of outages. Baker said hospitals have power backups that can last several days, providing energy so workers can keep providing care to a health care system that is being strained due to a the number COVID-19 patients.
