Seasonal Pies with Liz Barbour ON ZOOM (*RR)
Monday, November 23, 7pm
A delicious holiday pie is one pie crust and one filling away. In this class, Chef Liz Barbour of The Creative Feast will share her favorite pie dough recipe so students can recreate the perfect, flaky crust every time they bake a pie. Liz will share information about her favorite pie baking tools, ingredients, and preparation methods. She will then teach the class how to prepare 2 delicious, photo-worthy seasonal pies. Liz Barbour has been cooking professionally in the Boston area since 1992 and started The Creative Feast in 2004. Liz's cooking demonstrations and recipes have been featured on New Hampshire Chronicle, Channel 9’s “Cooks Corner” and in various publications including New Hampshire Magazine. In 2017 Liz published her first cookbook “Beautifully Delicious: Cooking with Herbs & Edible Flowers”. Liz shares her skills as a working chef and entertaining communicator, whose relaxed and humorous attitudes toward food demystify the cooking process. Sit back and watch while Liz prepares and presents exciting dishes for you and your friends to enjoy. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Presented in collaboration with the Wilmington Memorial Library.
Tewksbury Genealogy Group ON ZOOM (*RR)
Tuesday, November 24, 6pm (EARLY START)
The new Tewksbury Genealogy Group, which generally meets the fourth Tuesday evening of every month, is open to everyone who's interested in genealogy. Each meeting -- which will take place via Zoom -- consists of a presentation from a guest speaker (typically a professional genealogist), followed by a period where members can briefly share their latest genealogy research, and then the library will share a genealogy resource its patrons can access for free. The presentation for the November 24 meeting is "Six Mysteries Genealogists Can Unlock For Their Families" with Michelle Backman. As genealogists, you solve the mysteries of your family tree. You comb through data and connect the dots. You uncover new facts and reveal clues that prove whether the folklore is true. Your research is a priceless gift to your family, but have you started solving the everyday stories -- the rest of the mysteries -- that forever connect all generations of your family? Join us and discover six key personal stories all loved ones can unlock for their families. Backman is the owner of "Sunday Dinner Stories," a life story company who mission is to help grateful people preserve their family stories and connect all generations. She is also the owner of the "Life Story School," which offers online courses and workshops to teach everyday people how to save their everyday stories for their families. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
