Tewksbury East Street Road Closed for Ongoing Road Work
Starting Monday, April 24, significant road work will impact traffic on East Street, causing road closures.

TEWKSBURY -- Starting Monday, April 24, and continuing through the next 10 weeks, significant construction activity will impact traffic on East Street between Livingston Street and the railroad tracks. The work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
This section of East Street will be closed to thru traffic and detours will be in place.
This project consists of safety improvements to approximately 4,200 feet of East Street in this area, including reclaiming and repaving the road surface, grading, intersection realignment, and tree trimming.

Detour signs have been posted and police detail officers will be on scene during all periods of work. Emergency vehicles, school buses, and residents living within the work zone will be the only traffic permitted to travel on East Street between Livingston Street and Industrial Avenue during periods of work.
When no construction activity is occurring, the roadway will be open to all traffic.

• Traffic coming from Interstate 93 will be detoured down Shawsheen Street to Main Street (Route 38) 3.1 miles and then from Main Street (Route 38) to East Street 2.2 miles.
• Traffic coming from Interstate 495 will be detoured down Main Street (Route 38) to Shawsheen Street 4.6 miles and then from Shawsheen Street to East Street 2.6 miles.
Motorists should expect delays and increased traffic on East Street and the established detour routes throughout the duration of this project, which is scheduled to be completed within eight to 10 weeks.
