Tewksbury With The Winn -- And The 22-18 Win Over Lynn English
With Brandon Winn's touchdown with 1:42 left to play, Tewksbury advances to the state semi-finals in Division 3 football.

LYNN, MA -- Brandon Winn scored on a one-yard carry with 1:42 remaining to cap a come-from-behind, 22-18 Tewksbury win over Lynn English that secured the Redmen the Division 3 North Championship. Tewksbury (9-1) advances to play North Attleboro (9-1) in the state semi-finals at Weymouth High School next Saturday at 11 am. North Attleboro defeated Duxbury 35-0 Friday night.
Tewksbury sealed the win with 59 seconds to play when Shane Aylward came up with an interception. Aylward had set up Winn's winning score by rushing the ball to the Lynn English one-yard line with 1:45 left in the fourth quarter.
After being held to just 72 first-half yards, Lynn English had clawed back on offense to take an 18-15 lead with 3:30 to play when Matt Severance scored on a three-yard rush. It was the second Lynn English touchdown of the quarter and capped a 5:41, 89-yard drive by the Bulldogs.

Tewksbury had seemingly solidified its lead late in the third quarter when Winn, a running back, threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Braeden Hiltz on a trick play to make it 15-6. But Lynn English responded just eight second into the fourth quarter on a trick play that saw halfback Mathias Fowler throw a 49-yard touchdown pass to Juan Avelino. The Bulldogs failed to convert the point after, allowing Tewksbury to hold onto a precarious 15-12 lead.
Next Saturday's tilt with North Attleboro is tentatively scheduled to kick off at 11 am, with the winner advancing to the state finals at Gillette Stadium. The game start time, however, is subject to change as the MIAA finalizes schedules with all schools playing in state semi-final games next week.
