The project may entail some of the following activities:
- Trimming of trees within the Town right-of-way.
- Remove and relocate private yard fences and other encroachments within the Town right-of-way.
- Reclamation and pulverization of existing pavement.
- Re-grading of sub-grade and minor horizontal & vertical roadway profile alignment for drainage and safety improvements.
- Placement of intermediate (binder) course (Hot Mix Asphalt).
- Adjusting drainage structures, frames and water & gas grates to final grade.
- Placement of wearing (top) course (Hot Mix asphalt).
- Loam and seed shoulder area (lawn areas near edge of pavement).
- Transition driveway aprons to new roadway surface.
- Placement of pavement markings, regulatory and street signage.
Construction crews will commence work from 7:00 am to approximately 7:00 pm Monday through Friday, except holidays. This project began on Wednesday, April 17th and will be completed in approximately 6 weeks, weather permitted.
* Due to the nature of work, unmarked irrigation systems may become accidentally damaged. If you have an irrigation system, please mark the locations of the sprinkler heads. The DPW and its Contractor are only responsible for marked irrigation systems.
This section of River Road will be open to all traffic with one lane alternating at construction crews. During paving activities however, the road will be closed to all traffic. Traffic detours will be established for the general traffic flow. The closing of the road will make the construction zone safer for both the residents and construction crews. It will also accelerate the project completion time and vastly improve the overall quality of the project.Â
For your convenience trash collection times may be altered as well, we will send out a notification if that is needed.Â
We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you in advance for your patience and willingness to work with us in this endeavor.
The DPW will continue to keep you informed on the development and progress of this project through notices, and reverse 911, when necessary.
