On October 8, Rockport Music comes to Beverly’s Shore Country Day School with a free 7:00 p.m. evening performance by the world-renowned Aeolus Quartet. Praised by the Baltimore Sun for combining “smoothly meshed technique with a sense of spontaneity and discovery,” the Aeolus Quartet is committed to presenting time-seasoned masterworks and new cutting-edge works to widely diverse audiences with equal freshness, dedication, and fervor. They will perform on the stage of Shore’s state-of-the-art Theatre at 545 Cabot Street.

Since the Quartet’s inception in 2008, violinists Nicholas Tavani and Rachel Shapiro, violist Gregory Luce, and cellist Alan Richardson have won prizes at nearly every major competition in the United States and performed across the globe with showings “worthy of a major-league quartet” (Scott Cantrell, Dallas Morning News). Luke Quinton of the Austin-American Statesman writes, “The Aeolus Quartet is a powerful and thoughtful group of young musicians who are plotting an ascending course…this vibrant group shows great promise.”

Dedicated to bringing music into the community, the Aeolus Quartet has been widely recognized for their highly innovative and engaging outreach programs. Their performance at Shore Country Day School begins a two-day residency at the Beverly institution, which is known for its extensive music, art, and theater programs as well as its new Center for Creativity, a $20 million facility that’s home to multiple studio and rehearsal spaces as well as the Innovation Lab, a one-of-a-kind “makerspace.” Shore students in first through seventh grades will join the Quartet on the stage in Shore’s Theatre to learn about the group’s music, instruments, and history first-hand.
