Created in 2017, Broken Leg Productions (BLP) takes its name from the age-old theatrical saying, “Break a leg!” BLP is the result of Artistic Director Adam Schuler’s desire to continue to produce high-quality theatrical productions in unique ways. We strive to use theatre and education to make a real difference in people of all ages in the North Shore area.

BLP is producing four shows this summer: Last weekend BLP performed “CHICAGO: High School Edition.” “Aladdin JR,” and “Spring Awakening” will perform in August! See our website to learn more brokenlegproductions.com.

Our first middle school session is a four week camp experience which will culminate in an exciting staging of Pasek and Paul’s ‘James and The Giant Peach JR’. Based on one of Roald Dahl’s most poignantly quirky stories, Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach JR. is a brand new take on this “masterpeach” of a tale. Featuring a wickedly tuneful score and a witty and charming book, this adventurous musical about courage and self-discovery is destined to be a classic.

When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way. The possibilities for creative costuming and puppetry abound, and young actors will love playing the outlandish and larger-than-life human and insect characters.

The production is led by Artistic Director Adam Schuler, Music Director Megan Discisio, Choreographer Lauren Abramson, and Production Manager Alison Butts.
