Obituary: Richard 'Ricky' Scimeca, 54

Richard “Ricky” Scimeca, of Wakefield, formerly of Medford, died on Wednesday evening at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. He was 54.

Raised in Medford, he was the son of the late Michael and Margaret “Mickey Re” Scimeca.

A Medford resident for most of his life, he lived in Boston’s North End before settling in Wakefield. Ricky worked as a hairdresser for nearly 10 years and then enjoyed a 20 year career as an underwriter and administrator with John Hancock Insurance.

He was a devoted father to Richard and Nicholas Scimeca of the North End and the brother of Michael Scimeca Jr. of Maynard. He was a loving Godfather to Michael Scimeca III and Marco Leone, uncle of Nicole Scimeca and is also survived by many devoted friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday, Aug. 5, from 10 a.m. to noon followed by a service in the funeral home at noon and concluding with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
