Man Killed Mother In Wakefield, Charged At Police: DA

A woman found dead in Wakefield was killed by her son, who was shot after charging officers with a knife, authorities said. Pamela Wood, 61, was found in the basement of her Otis Street home Tuesday morning, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said.

Her son, 23-year-old Timothy Martin, of Manchester, NH, is in intensive care at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. He is expected to be charged with his mother's murder, authorities said.

FBI Arrests Malden Man After Capitol Riot

A controversial Malden resident was arrested Tuesday in connection with the riot at the U.S. Capitol building, the FBI said. Mark Sahady, 46, is the vice president of Super Happy Fun America, the group that organized the 2019 Straight Pride Parade in Boston.

Sahady's role in the group has drawn the ire of some of his fellow residents. The organization's website bills it as an advocate for the "straight community," bearing the motto, "It's Great to be Straight."

Reading Supt. Apologizes For Content Addressing Capitol Unrest

Reading's superintendent of schools apologized Friday for a resource sent to families in the wake of unrest at the Capitol building. The link, which contained a video from the "Woke Kindergarten" YouTube channel, was made available to parents to assist in conversation with their children.

Superintendent John Doherty said the district has provided similar resources after other tragic events. But this particular link should not have been shared, due to the "violent nature of some of the photos and the perceived role that police play," Doherty said in a statement Friday.

Leading Life Science Realtor Buys 7+ Acres In Assembly Square

A leading provider of real estate solutions to the life science and technology industries has plans to build a 1.3-million innovation space for research, technology and life science tenants in Assembly Square. BioMed Realty announced the acquisition of an existing 162,000-square-foot office building and adjacent 7.5-acre site Tuesday.

The firm already has lab and office space in Cambridge and Boston's Longwood Medical and Seaport areas. Assembly Square provides convenient access to world-leading scientific research, established biotech companies and capital providers in the life science field, BioMed says.
