Timothy Martin Charged With Mother's Murder In Wakefield
The 23-year-old Manchester, NH man is accused of killing his mother, Pamela Wood, in her Otis Street home.
WAKEFIELD, MA — A Manchester, NH man was formally arrested Thursday and charged with his mother's murder in Wakefield. Timothy Martin, 23, is in stable condition at Lahey Hospital in Burlington after being shot by police officers who said he charged them with a knife.
Martin is accused of killing his mother, 61-year-old Pamela Wood, in her Otis Street home. Wood was found in the basement by police and firefighters after she did not show up to work Tuesday morning.
Wood's death was caused by "severe trauma," the Middlesex District Attorney's office said.

Officers responding to the basement encountered Martin, who was shot by two Wakefield officers after he ran at them with a knife above his head, the DA's office said. Two knives were found in the home, investigators said.
Wood, a speech pathologist at Greenwood Elementary School and the Doyle Early Childhood Center in Wakefield, was remembered this week as a "vibrant and integral" part of the district.

"Pam worked with many students and families over the years in her role as a Speech and Language Pathologist," Wakefield Superintendent Doug Lyons said. "She will be missed by students, families and staff alike. Our hearts go out to her family during this tremendously difficult time."
Martin has been charged with one count of murder and three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon. He will be arraigned at a later date.
