WAKEFIELD, MA — A veterans-only parking spot will be coming to Town Hall after the Town Council unanimously voted Monday night to approve it.

Town Administrator Stephen Maio said the parking spot might go near the new mailboxes and next to the handicap parking space.

"I think this is a great way to honor our veterans," Maio said.

A state law called the "BRAVE Act" says a municipality can dedicate a spot with the words "Veteran Parking Only— this space is reserved for those who have served. Unauthorized Vehicles May Be Removed At The Vehicle Owner's Expense."

Wakefield's Veterans Advisory Board suggested the town use the same language, and perhaps paint the spot to further distinguish it.
