Wakefield Cultural Council 2019 Grant Recipients Announced

The Wakefield Cultural Council would like to enthusiastically congratulate this year's grant recipients.

The Wakefield Cultural Council would like to enthusiastically congratulate this year’s grant recipients. Proposals for community-oriented arts, humanities, and science programs were submitted between September 1 through October 15, 2018. The Wakefield Cultural Council recently awarded over $8,000 in grants to the following recipients:

  • Stephen Lewis: May Day - An International Poster Exhibit
  • Wakefield Parent Partnership: Raising Resilient Children and Adolescents
  • North Suburban Child & Family Resource Network: Mike the Bubble Man
  • Wakefield Historical Society: Archival Framing/Stabilization of Historic Art & Resources
  • Delvena Theatre Company: Ann and Abby
  • Green Art Workshop: Whimsical Weavings
  • Woodville School PTO: Nora Dooley- Stories from the Neighbors
  • Saint Joseph School: Discover India through Dance and Movement with Mouli Pal
  • Galvin Middle School PTO: MythMasters - Tales from Greek Mythology
  • The Musary, JRP Inc.: Musical Instrument Lending Acquisitions
  • Walton PTO: Kidstock Theater - Diversity, Celebrating Differences, and Building Positive Relationships
  • Middlesex Concert Band: Music Around the World
  • Dolbeare PTO: TheaterWorks USA, Magic School Bus
  • Mehreen Butt: Cultural Dancing in Wakefield
  • Lucius Beebe Memorial Library: Plaza Jazz
  • Wakefield Human Rights Commission: Pride Month Celebration
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Stoneham and Wakefield: Collaborative Murals

The Wakefield Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The LCC Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences and humanities every year.

The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community. Thank you to the residents of Wakefield who helped establish our priorities by filling out our survey in the summer of 2018.
