Wakefield Foreclosure Activity Down Significantly in Past 12 Months

Recent data shows significant slowdown in local foreclosure activity

Foreclosure activity in Wakefield has fallen dramatically over the past year, according to recent data from the Warren Group.

The Massachusetts real estate information company reported that as of the end of September, 10 foreclosure petitions had been filed in Wakefield – compared to 42 for that same point in 2012. This marks a decline over about 76% during that time period.

Wakefield also saw a significant decrease in the number of foreclosure deeds in town, with five reported in 2013 compared to ten in 2012.

"It's been a solid year of foreclosure decreases, indicating the worst of the housing crisis is over," said Timothy M. Warren, Jr., CEO of the Warren Group.
