Wakefield Ends State Of Emergency After 455 Days
It started when there were fewer than 200 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Massachusetts. There have now been more than 2,000 in Wakefield alone.
WAKEFIELD, MA — The Board of Health and Town Council voted Monday night to end the state of emergency brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, ceasing the emergency declaration made 456 days ago.
The Massachusetts state of emergency also ended as of 12:01 a.m. Tuesday.
"Now therefore, the Town Council of Wakefield, Massachusetts, hereby declares that as of Monday, May 16, 2020 a state of emergency exists in the Town of Wakefield. This declaration of emergency shall remain in effect until further notice is given, pursuant to a vote by the Town Council, that the state of emergency no longer exists."
