The Wakefield Rotary Club recently installed its new officers and directors during an online event earlier this week. In accordance with its by-laws, the service club elects new leadership annually. The Savings Bank’s Senior Vice President Bruce Donovan was sworn in as President for the 2021-2022 Rotary Year and Gene Mullin was sworn in as Vice President/President-Elect. “As a twelve-year member and former Treasurer of the Wakefield Rotary Club, I am truly honored to serve as the President of the Club for the 2021 – 2022 year,” Donovan said. In addition, the club installed its incoming Board of Directors including Paul Adams, Margie Daniels, Glen Duffy, Wendy Maguire, Jill McWilliam, Barbara Worley and John Tramontozzi. Suzanne Bowering will serve as Secretary, Barbara Worley will be the Club Treasurer, and Frank Fiorentino will be the Sergeant-at-Arms. The new leadership team took office on July 1, 2021 and serve until June 30, 2022.

The Rotary International Theme for 2021-22 is Serve to Change Lives. Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta of India noted, “Today, the need to serve has become even more necessary and apparent.” He added, “I urge you to lead by example and inspire to participate in projects that have a sustained impact. Join hands with other Rotarians, other organizations, corporations, and do projects that impact your community, your city - projects that can change lives of people across the country and around the world.” Donovan commented, “The theme really speaks to our club as we continue to focus on our tradition of local and international service. Year after year, we complete projects that change lives and we cannot wait to continue that tradition.”
