Wakefield Store Liquor License Curbed for Underage Sales
The store's license was suspended on Feb. 4 and 5, according to Wicked Local Wakefield.

WAKEFIELD, MA—A Wakefield package store’s liquor license was suspended for two days after minors were sold alcohol on two different occasions in 2015.
Wicked Local Wakefield reported Wednesday that Jeffrey’s Package Store’s liquor license was suspended for Feb. 4 and 5 after two infractions occurring in September and December respectively.
Reports Christopher Roberson, who broke the story on Wicked Local Wakefield’s website.
Town Counsel Thomas Mullen said the infractions occurred on Sept. 25 and Dec. 31, 2015. However, he urged the board to treat both dates as a first offense as no disciplinary action was taken following the September incident.
Speaking on the December infraction, Police Officer Richard Meehan said he noticed two individuals leaving Jeffrey’s with three packs of beer and one bottle of hard liquor. Meehan said they appeared to be under 21 and he stopped them for questioning and requested identification.
Meehan then discovered that they were both born in 1996, putting them at 19 or 20 years old. He said they were Reading residents and were home from college for the holiday break.
Neither individual said they were carded during the transaction at Jeffrey’s.
