Wakefield's Parent University Aims to Help Mom and Dad
4th annual program loaded with workshops to help parents help their kids.

It's sign-up time for Wakefield's 4th annual Parent University, a day of workshops geared toward helping parents help their children.
Slated for Saturday, March 11, at the Galvin Middle School, the day will consist of workshops in the areas of curriculum, technology, and one entitled "the whole child matters." The day begins at 8 a.m. and run to 12:15. The keynote speaker is Dr. Michael Mascolo, whose presentation starts at 8:40 a.m. and called "Cultivating a Growth Mindset: A Key To Unlocking Your Child's Potential."
But the majority of the morning focuses on the workshops. The curriculum workshop includes topics like writing workshops, college planning, and talking about math. The technology workshops include such things as social media, google classroom, and google aps for education. Workshops will be held from 9:40 to 10:30 and from 11 to 11:50.

The day also includes free childcare thanks to the Wakefield Academy. Kid Camp will be a morning of fun activities for children ages 4-13. Parents must sign up their child when they register for the Parent University. Participation is not limited to Wakefield residents.
