Boston Red Sox Announce that Ben Cherington Steps Down as GM

The Boston #RedSox issued a series of tweets on Tuesday night that the organization has hired Dave Dombrowski to be its President of Baseball Operations.

“Mr. Dombrowski will assume responsibility for all baseball operations matters effective immediately, and will report directly to Red Sox Principal Owner, John Henry, and to Red Sox Chairman, Tom Werner.”

“General Manager, Ben Cherington, declined the opportunity to continue as General Manager, but has agreed to assist Mr. Dombrowski during the transition.”
