Memorial Day Observance in Walpole
The community will gather at the flagpole on Walpole's town common at 11 a.m. to honor our country's fallen heroes.

Today is Memorial Day and Walpole will be honoring America's fallen heroes with a ceremony at the flagpole on the town common beginning at 11 a.m.
"While recognizing the ultimate sacrifice of all our brave service members, the town of Walpole is dedicating the flagpole to Everett C. “Rocky” Rockwood, local WWII and D-day veteran and the unofficial face of Walpole’s veteran community, who passed away in January," Walpole Veterans Services said via its Facebook page.
Walpole's Veterans’ Committee has worked with local organizations and citizens to have a convoy and stationary display of WWII-era military vehicles and a flyover of a Korean War-era aircraft during the ceremony.
After the ceremony, the committee has organized a barbecue at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5188, at 109 Robbins Rd. in Walpole. There will be food, drinks, a live band, and drawings for multiple gift baskets donated by local businesses.
