Moratorium on Medical Marijuana Centers to be Voted on Monday as Town Meeting Enters Day 3
Walpole's Annual Town Meeting resumes at 7:30 p.m. Monday inside Walpole High School.

Walpole’s Annual Town Meeting enters Day 3 Monday – one week after it initially opened to review and vote on 38 warrant articles.
Of the articles approved through the first two days of town meeting include the town’s FY14 operating budget of $74,199,884 (2.75 percent increase over FY13) and the installation of security cameras at Walpole High School. The cameras were approved Wednesday despite strong opposition from students and some RTM members.
While needing three days to get through a town meeting is unusual, Town Clerk Ron Fucile said this year they have a lot to go through.

“Usually we can get it done in two [days], but this has more pieces than most people expected, and those pieces are taking some time to get to the bottom of,” he said. “We’re coming back on Monday to take care of the remainder.”
Fucile said any of the warrant’s 38 articles, despite last week’s vote, could be revisited at any time in subsequent town meeting dates, so nothing is official until the conclusion of the meeting.

“As long as town meeting is open, any of those articles could be brought back,” he said.
Of the remaining articles to be discussed Monday will be Article 32, “to see if the town will vote to amend the town’s zoning bylaw by adding a new section 16, ‘Temporary moratorium on medical marijuana treatment centers.’
