Updated: Multi-Car Crash on Rte. 1, Road Now Cleared

UPDATE: (12:58 p.m.)

Route 1 southbound has been cleared from a multi-car crash that occurred at about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Traffic was rerouted for about an hour as crews cleared the scene.

NORWOOD-The Norwood Police Department is reporting a multi-car crash being worked by Norwood Police and Fire on Rte. 1 Southbound at Everett St. and University Ave.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area if at all possible. Southbound traffic is being rerouted; drivers headed into the Walpole area should take note. 

One operator fled the scene but was apprehended and arrested.
