No Jail For Walpole Nurse Who Smuggled Drugs Into Prison: Feds
Prosecutors said a nurse at the Walpole prison helped an inmate she was romantically involved with smuggle drugs into prison.
BOSTON — A former nurse at the correctional facility in Walpole was sentenced probation on Wednesday after being found guilty of smuggling prescription drugs for an inmate she was romantically involved with. According to court documents, Christine Ramos, 38, of Walpole faces two years probation and a $2,000 fine after prosecutors proved she distributed Suboxone and Alprazolam at MCI-Cedar Junction.
In July 2018, Ramos was in a romantic relationship with inmate Chad Connors, court documents said. At Connor's request, prosecutors said Ramos agreed to smuggle the prescription drugs into the prison.
Prosecutors said Ramos opened two post office boxes through third parties. Connors sent letters and money to Ramos through the P.O. boxes and had inmate William Guillemette get his wife Lisa, and mother, Margaret to send the drugs to the P.O. boxes for Ramos to smuggle into the prison, according to court documents.
