Pickup Truck Crashed Into Walpole Pond
The driver and passenger got themselves out of the car but were hospitalized for hypothermia.
WALPOLE, MA — Two men narrowly escaped what could have been a tragic accident on Sunday morning after their pickup truck crashed into a pond in Walpole. The men were able to get themselves out of the truck and the freezing water.
The truck slid off of Oak Street and into the semi-frozen pond. The men escaped but were hospitalized for hypothermia, police said. The truck sank into 10 feet of water and had to be pulled out by a towing company.
Walpole police Chief Joseph Carmichael tweeted that the men escaped through the windows of the truck.

Walpole police, fire and Assured Collison responded to the scene. It's possible an animal hopped into the road, causing the driver to swerve and slid off the road.
