Strong Weather System to Threaten the Walpole Area Starting Tuesday Night

Looks like we are in for some extreme weather this week thanks to colliding events that are going to bring several threats to the area beginning Tuesday night through the end of the week.

The National Weather Service says the ingredients that are pulling this all together include Tropical Depression #11 which has formed over the Atlantic Ocean and as of Monday morning, was about halfway between Bermuda and the Bahamas.

Here’s what to expect with this system, according to NWS:

• Persistent and strong northeast winds and high astronomical tides will lead to the potential for minor with pockets of moderate coastal flooding, as well as beach erosion, across east-facing beaches

• Northeast winds have the potential of gusting upwards of 40 mph. Considering fully leafed trees, there is the potential for downed tree, tree limb and power lines.

• Heavy rain is also anticipated which could lead to possible flooding impacts should heavy rain focus over a particular area for a short period of time.
