Walpole 2012 Crime and Fire Statistics

The 2012 town report for Walpole is in and here’s a rundown of some interesting statistics.

In the fiscal year, July 1, 2011- June 30, 2012, Walpole Police made 434 arrests (48 of which were protective custodies), 4,179 citations and responded to 18,141 incidents. Walpole Police generated $130,750 in revenue.

In FY 2012, there were 24 reported cases of assault, 45 cases of burglary, two reported cases of rape, 368 cases of larceny, 129 cases of vandalism, 12 reported vehicle thefts, and no reported cases of murder. In every instance save larceny and vehicle theft, crime rates went down or stayed the same in reported cases. Eight of those 12 stolen vehicles were reported recovered.

The Fire Department extinguished 118 fires during the fiscal year. Of those, 28 were building fires, 35 were cooking fires, 12 were vegetation fires, two wildfires, 17 brush fires and two trash fires. There were 2,865 reported incidents for the Fire and Emergency Medical Services.
