Walpole Blotter: Police Break Up Large Gatherings
Also, two arrests were made, and one car was towed after a road rage incident.
WALPOLE, MA — Police in Walpole responded to 456 calls for service between Sunday, May 3, and Monday, May 11. The highlights of those calls are below.
Sunday, May 3
- At 9:45 a.m., police units assisted in a birthday parade for an area child.
- At 10:14 a.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Lincoln Road. A caller reported someone had emptied the contents of his car into a parking lot before walking toward the adams Building. Police, firefighters and ambulances responded, and one person was taken to Norwood Hospital. The car was towed.
- At 1:04 p.m., a Berkeley Drive resident reported someone had gone through four cars overnight. The caller did not wish to speak with police but requested that the incident be logged and that extra police patrols be sent to the area.
- At 1:14 p.m., an officer removed outdoor seating at a location on Main Street.
- At 2:37 p.m., a caller reported a large number of juveniles had gathered at a quarry on Forrest Road. Police spoke with the juveniles and made them leave the area.
- At 2:53 p.m., police disbanded multiple groups of people on Common Street.
- At 4:25 p.m., a caller reported a large group of people had gathered in the area of Common Street. Police found several small groups were following social distancing guidelines.
- At 6:39 p.m. a caller reported her adult son was causing issues in her house by refusing to take precautions for the new coronavirus. The woman was advised of her options.
- At 7:05 p.m., a caller on Old Diamond Street reported her neighbor was having a large gathering. Police arrived and counted less than 10 people.
- At 8:03 p.m., a gathering of more than 12 people was reported in a garage area on Hilltop Drive. Police advised the gathering of social distancing guidelines.
- At 9:54 p.m., a caller reported his neighbor had scraped a knife against his doorway. The caller was contacted by police by phone.
Monday, May 4

- At 6:59 p.m., police responded to a report of a brush fire near Renmar Avenue. Police found a contained cooking fire and spoke with three juveniles in the area.
Tuesday, May 5
- At 3:08 p.m., someone called to report a road rage incident at Route 1 and Coney Street. Police responded, and one car was towed.
- At 4:10 p.m., a caller reported tree limbs were hanging above a power line on West Street. Police said the limb in question was very small and not affecting the wires.
- At 5 p.m., two officers assisted with property removal from a house on Forsythia Drive. Police later met with involved parties in the Walpole Police Department parking lot.
- At 11:26 p.m., a 911 caller reported a suspicious man had been seen on Main Street. David Coke person was arrested on a warrant and his car was towed.
Wednesday, May 6

- At 11:07 a.m., a doctor on High Plain Street called police to request a welfare check on a woman who did not show up for an appointment. Police said the woman was OK and will follow up with her doctor.
- At 9:12 p.m., a caller reported items were stolen from a vehicle on Fisher Street over the weekend.
Thursday, May 7
- At 10:29 a.m., a caller reported a possible sudden death. Detectives responded to a possible overdose, and the medical examiner took custody of a body.
- At 3:16 p.m., a caller reported seeing a pickup truck hit an Amazon truck before leaving the area. Amazon dispatch also reported the incident. Police spoke with the Amazon driver and will contact the other driver.
- At 5:22 p.m. an officer was flagged down by a Walmart employee regarding two children alone in a car. The officer spoke with the parent and identified that the children were left in the car because Walmart does not allow children without masks in the store.
Friday, May 8
At 12:05 a.m. a car crash was reported on Wolcott Avenue. A caller reported a dark colored SUV struck a fire hydrant and fled the scene. The water was turned off and the car was gone on arrival.
At 11:49 a.m., a caller reported a man was attempting to hitchhike on Main Street. Police investigated and found the man had been seen getting into a white van. The man was found and taken back to New Pond.
Saturday, May 9
- At 11:29 a.m. a fire alarm on Main Street was accidentally set off by spray paint.
- At 12:32 p.m. a sudden death was reported on High Plain Street. Officers and detectives responded. All units were later cleared.
- At 3 p.m. a caller reported a tree limb had fallen on overhead wires. Police found the wires were Comcast phone lines and notified the phone company. Residents nearby were told to stay away from the area.
- At 8:11 p.m. , Nicholas Michaeol Depedro was arrested for OUI at West Street and Beethoven Avenue. Police responded a mailbox was damaged. Depedro was charged with OUI-Liquor Or .08%, Marked Lanes Violation and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
Sunday, May 10
- At 1:45 p.m., police were sent to a group home on Johnson Drive after a caller reported a visitor was upset he wouldn't be allowed in the building. A verbal argument ensued, and additional police units were sent to deal with multiple parties.
Monday, May 11
- At 11:09 a.m., a caller reported a bear cub in the area of Woodruff Road.
- At 2:26 p.m., an ambulance was requested to South Street. One person was taken to Norwood Hospital.
- At 3:19 p.m., police notified Walpole Animal Services of a report of three large dogs on the loose on North Street.
- At 7:28 p.m., a caller on Lincoln Road reported a student was missing. The area was checked, and a message was sent out to surrounding cities and towns.
