Walpole 2013 Election Season Begins Today

Potential candidates can pull nomination papers beginning Feb. 1 at the Town Clerk's office.

Today marks the beginning of election season in Walpole.

Candidates can pull nomination papers at town clerk's office at Town Hall for the 2013 town-wide election in June.

All candidates for town-wide office must collect at least 50 signatures of registered voters of the Town of Walpole.

Before collecting signatures, the candidate must sign the nomination papers and fill in the office for which he/she will be a candidate with the term of office.

New candidates for Town Meeting must secure the signatures of at least 25 registered voters in their precinct.

Incumbent Town Meeting Members whose term is expiring will receive a letter or phone call from the Town Clerk’s office asking if they would like to be considered a candidate for re-election to Town Meeting for their precinct.

There are 48 three-year TMR positions open for this election, six per precinct. There will also be one one-year term open in Precinct 1 and two two-year terms open in Precinct 3 and Precinct 6, respectively.
