WALPOLE, MA — A Walpole man accused of attacking his mother with a meat tenderizer was captured in Vermont, police announced Friday. A manhunt was underway for Ian Crowley, 31, after the attack happened Wednesday night, police said.

Around 7 p.m., residents received a reverse 911 call urging people to lock their houses and cars as police searched the area for Crowley, who police said attacked his mother near the 500 block of Common Street. Walpole Police Chief John Carmichael told WHDH news the attack was sparked over an argument Crowley and his mother had over alcohol consumption. Police said Crowley escaped on foot.

Crowley’s mother was taken to a local hospital and is recovering from non life-threatening injuries.
