Walpole Obituary: Sarah Finigan

Ms. Finigan was a former resident of Walpole and enjoyed golfing at Royal Crest.

Sarah L. (Cross) Finigan, 85, formerly of Walpole, Dover and Marblehead, passed away on February 21, 2013.

Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur M. and Marion (Bachelor) Cross.

Raised and educated in Marblehead, she was a graduate of Marblehead High School and later Lasell Junior College and Boston University.

Sarah taught school in Vermont and later served as an administrative assistant for Reliance Electric in Norwood for several years.

She was an avid golfer and loved playing at Royal Crest in Walpole and served for many years on their holiday tournament committees.

Sarah loved to travel and visited Europe several times, cruised the Caribbean, Panama Canal & Alaska.

She enjoyed spending time with and entertaining family, friends and most of all her grandkids.

Sarah also enjoyed many hobbies including skiing, sewing, knitting, crocheting and playing bridge.

She served as a Girl Scout Leader in Dover and later as a volunteer at Norwood Hospital.

She is survived by her two children, Nancy LaRue Bonell and her husband John of Wareham, and Greg Finigan and his wife Paula of Medway; her grandchildren, Aimee and Michael LaRue, Gregory and Sarah Finigan; and several nieces and a nephew. She was also the sister of the late Charlie Cross.

A graveside service will be held at Swampscott Cemetery, Essex Street, Swampscott on Saturday, March 30 at 12 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
