Walpole Police To Crackdown On School Traffic And Safety
The crackdown was spurred by a resident complaining about a car that drove past a stopped school bus and nearly hit a student.
WALPOLE, MA — Walpole police will be paying extra attention to school traffic and pedestrian safety. In an announcement to the community, the department said it was notified about a speeding car that drove past a stopped school bus, nearly hitting a student.
Police said traffic and pedestrian safety have always been a priority but in light of the recent incident, the department will deploy its Mobile Operations Unit. It reminded residents that the penalty for passing a stopped school bus is $200 on the first offense and repeat offenders have their license suspended.
The department did not specify where the stopped bus was passed but reassured residents that the issue would be followed up and focused on.
