Walpole Police Ditch Razors For No Shave November

This is the one time in the year officers are able to grow out their facial hair — and it's for a good cause.

WALPOLE, MA — For one month only, Walpole police are adding scruff to their uniforms. The department announced on Tuesday that it will participate in "No Shave November," to highlight and raise money for a Walpole based charity.

While the hashtag No Shave November tends to go viral every year, police departments have extra fun with the trend since it's the one time officers are allowed to grow out their facial hair. The viral trend is also a way for departments to shed light on community organizations and help them raise money.

The Walpole Police Department is raising money through November for Project Fund Inc, a Walpole-based charitable organization, which supports community members in need and invests in the future of our young adults through various local fundraisers.

Keep an eye out for bearded police officers and women officers wearing pink insignia to support the cause. The department warned the community on Facebook that officer's scruff might take time to come in, "Keep in mind this is the only time many of us are allowed to grow such masterpieces ... so go easy on our scruff!"
