Walpole Students Raise Money For Community Resource Dog

Rebel the Community Resource Dog works as the bridge between Walpole youth and law enforcement.

WALPOLE, MA — Some Walpole students showed their appreciation for Rebel the Community Resource Dog on Thursday. Students, parents and staff at the Boyden School held a fundraiser to try to help cover some of Rebel's expenses.

The fundraiser was perfectly timed to coincide with Walpole's Random Act of Kindness Day. The department, and Rebel were thankful for the donations. "Thank you to the Boyden Community for your generous donations to Rebel," the department wrote in a Facebook post.

As the Community Resource Dog, Rebel acts as a bridge between the town's youth and the police department. Working side-by-side with Officer Hart, Rebel's duties have expanded from working with youth to all residents in town. While she often walks the halls of Walpole's schools, Rebel makes regular appearances at the district attorney's office, the council on aging and throughout town hall.
