Liddy said the coin is hardly rare but it's condition rating is very high.

Coins are graded from a scale of 1-70. Liddy's coin is graded at 64.

"This is a 64. If it was a 63, which is one grade less, it would be a $3,000 coin. If it had been a 65, which is one grade more, it’d be a $150,000 coin,” he said.

Liddy said there are millions of the Morgan silver dollars in circulation that fetch on average about $25.

“They never found very many of that year that were of high quality,” he said.

That's what makes his so rare.

Liddy has been in the coin, bill and stamp business for 16 years. His interest in collecting began when he young.

“As a child I was a collector. I had an uncle who was a sea captain. He would come home and he would bring coins in the late 40’s, early 50’s from countries I had never heard of, countries I never thought I would never go to like east Africa, Egypt or Belgium," he said.

Liddy said he is enjoying is time in Walpole after moving his business from Canton in 2001.
