What's Open, Closed on Martin Luther King Day in Walpole

WALPOLE, MA - Martin Luther King Day is a federal holiday held on the third Monday of January. It celebrates the life and achievements of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. State and federal offices will be closed in observance of the holiday, while retail stores and most other businesses will be open.

Here’s a look at what’s open and what’s closed on Monday, Jan. 18:

• Town offices: Closed
• Schools: Closed
• Libraries: Closed
• Banks: Closed
• Post offices: Closed
• Retail stores: Open
• Grocery stores: Open
• Liquor stores: Open

MBTA Schedules

While most MBTA subway lines will operate on a Saturday schedule, the commuter rail is running on a regular schedule.

Here’s a full look at how Monday’s MBTA schedule:

Subway:

• The Red Line will operate a Saturday schedule.
• The Orange Line will operate a Saturday schedule.
• The Blue Line will operate a Saturday schedule.
• The Green B-, C-, D-, and E-Lines will operate a Saturday schedule.
• The Silver Line will operate a weekday schedule.
• The Mattapan Trolley will operate a Saturday schedule.

Customers should please note that while the Red, Orange, Blue, and Green Lines will operate a Saturday schedule, there will not be late-night service.

Commuter Rail:

• The Haverhill Line will operate a regular weekday schedule.
• The Lowell Line will operate a regular weekday schedule.
