Woman Charged With Threatening To Attack Walpole Reporter

The threats were reportedly made towards a reporter who works for the Walpole Times.

WALPOLE, MA — A woman was arrested in Amherst Sunday after allegedly making threats towards a journalist who works in the Walpole Times' office.

Amy Zuckerman, 64, of Shutesbury, was arrested in Amherst on an arrest warrant and was in Wrentham District Court Monday. She has been ordered held pending a dangerousness hearing set for Wednesday, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney's office. Zuckerman worked as a reporter in Worcester in the 1980s and '90s.

Anne Brennan, who oversees the weekly papers produced in the Walpole office, told the Metrowest Daily News that the journalist who works in the Walpole office received a threat from Zuckerman after they asked her to stop sending them emails. Zuckerman often sent the journalist and other people emails about what she feels are injustices.

Brennan said the email contained a very serious threat of physical harm. Zuckerman's defense attorney said there were issues with the use of voice-to-text and the threat was taken out of context.

Gatehouse Media, which owns the Walpole Times, said their Walpole office will remain closed until a security guard is hired.
