Bluebikes Come To Watertown's Arsenal Yards

The grand opening and official activation of the Arsenal Yards station is Friday.

WATERTOWN, MA β€” Watertown is welcoming another Bluebike station to town, this time at Arsenal Yards.

The grand opening and official activation of the Arsenal Yards station is planned for Friday. The station is located on Arsenal Street. The Arsenal Yards station is the fourth Bluebike station in Watertown. Other stations can be found at Coolidge Square, Watertown Square and at N. Beacon Street at N. Beacon Court.

Watertown is one of five municipalities introducing the docked Bluebikes system for a two-year pilot and will evaluate performance at the end of the term. The new communities are funding this expansion effort alongside Lyft, the contracted operator of Bluebikes.

:This is an exciting opportunity to bring bike share to Watertown, and provide connections to the other communities and to the T, with a consistent program throughout the region. The experience for the public will be seamless and much more functional," said Steve Magoon, Watertown Assistant Town Manager and Director of Community Development and Planning.

Bluebikes is Metro Boston's public bike share program, with more than 1,800 bikes at over 200 stations across Boston, Brookline, Cambridge and Somerville and now Arlington, Chelsea, Newton, Revere and Watertown.
