ICYMI: Duo Behind Shuttered Cambridge Eatery Bringing Restaurant to Watertown

Husband-and-wife team Gabriel Bremer and Analia Verolo completed a successful Kickstarter campaign for their Nichols Ave. venture.

WATERTOWN, MA – Salts in Cambridge closed in 2015, but the husband-and-wife team behind the eatery has wasted no time in bouncing back.

First reported Monday by Eater Boston, Gabriel Bremer and Analia Verolo completed a successful Kickstarter campaign over the weekend for their new Watertown venture, La Bodega by Salts. According to the page, the campaign raised a little over its $40,000 goal, which will go toward helping "re-establish" the owners in the greater Boston dining community.

La Bodega is an offshoot of Salts, a Cambridge eatery forced to close in 2015. A Boston Magazine piecehighlights the struggles the owners had in their final year, including waiting on their landlord to help them rebuild following a burst pipe that destroyed the interior and finding out MIT no longer wanted to house their restaurant.

Their new eatery will serve wood-fired and grilled dishes with Uruguayan, Spanish and Basque influences, according to Eater. The restaurant's Kickstarter page has an opening date slated for early this year, though with the recent completion of the campaign it's unknown if that timeline is still possible.
