Memorial Day In Watertown: What You Need To Know
Here's how the town will observe Memorial Day, plus a list of what's open and closed.
WATERTOWN, MA – Memorial Day Is Monday, May 28, and Watertown will mark the holiday with memorial events from Wednesday through the end of the weekend, culminating with a parade on Monday. Below is the list of events:
Wednesday, May 23 at 5 p.m.: Meet at Ridgelawn Cemetery
Flags will be placed at veterans' graves at all Watertown cemeteries by Veteran organizations and Volunteers

Friday, May 25: Veterans School Visitation- 9:00 a.m. - Watertown High School
- 9:45 a.m. - Cuniff Elementary School
- 10:00 a.m. - Lowell Elementary School
- 10:00 a.m. - Watertown Middle School
- 11:00 a.m. - Hosmer Elementary School

What's Open And Closed On Memorial Day
The holiday also means government offices and some businesses will be closed. Before you head out, check our list of what's open and closed on the holiday.
- Retail stores: Open at owner's discretion
- Subway, buses: Sunday schedule
- Supermarkets: Open
- Convenience stores: Open
- Bars: Open
- Banks: Closed
- Basically anything to do with municipal government: Closed
- Libraries, see above: Closed
- Schools: Closed
- Mail: Express delivery only
- Trash/recycling collection: Delayed one day. Monday pickup on Tuesday, Tuesday pickup on Wednesday, etc., ending with Friday pickup on Saturday.
