New Coffee Shop Coming to Watertown

Chicago-based java slingers Intelligentsia Coffee will open a coffee bar and "training lab" on Mt. Auburn Street in May.

WATERTOWN, MA – Intelligentsia Coffee will make camp in Watertown next month, the Chicago-based chain announced this week. The company is opening a coffee bar and "training lab" at 810 and 818 Mt. Auburn Street May 4.

The locations are Intelligentsia's first in the Boston area as the chain expands its East Coast presence, offering consumers a wide slate of single-origins, blends and espressos, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at how they are crafted.

The 1,900-square-foot space at 810 Mt. Auburn Street, designed by Bestor Architecture, features an open coffee bar and adjoining "chef's table" pour-over bar, allowing consumers to participate in the crafting process. The interior is described as a "boho modern" design that incorporates the original space's industrial elements with wood tones and includes seating for customers and vintage European furniture. Watertown is Intelligentsia's first location to offer on-site parking.
