Straight Outta Watertown: Famous Faces From Your Hometown

WATERTOWN, MA - 'More Than a Feeling,' the smash hit from Boston's multi-platinum debut album, was 'born' at Foxglove Studios in Watertown.

The brainchild of songwriter Tom Scholz, it took the guitarist five years to complete. It was one of six songs he recorded at Foxglove Studios, which is just a fancy way of saying Scholz's basement, before Boston was signed to a record label.

'More Than a Feeling' propelled the band to stardom and is still their most famous song to date. In addition to being ranked the 39th best hard rock song of all time by VH1, it has appeared in countless movies, television shows and video games.

It was also co-opted by Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee during his 2008 campaign. In response, Scholz requested that the candidate cease using the song as it implied that the band had officially endorsed Huckabee - they had not.

Did you know? In response to Huckabee using the band's song, Scholz said he had never endorsed a candidate before and "with all due respect, would not start by endorsing a candidate who is the polar opposite of most everything Boston stands for."
